Licor 43 is a liqueur produced in Cartagena, Spain, and is based on a secret family recipe that includes 43 natural ingredients, including fruits, Mediterranean citrus fruits, and selected botanicals. The ingredients are selected, macerated with water and alcohol, blended, left to rest for 9 months, cold-treated for 5 days, and filtered. The complex but harmonious flavor profile can be perceived on four levels: the reminiscence of Mediterranean citrus fruits, the spicy touch of coriander, the sweet nuance of vanilla, and the floral notes of lemons and oranges.
It is usually drunk neat, after meals, with or without ice. A particular serving suggestion is Carajillo 43, which adds coffee to Licor 43.
