The water used to make rum is not sourced from underground aquifers, but through a proprietary mountain water collection system, returning only clean water to the land after use. Natural yeasts are used for extended fermentation. Hampden Estate is one of the last distilleries still producing their rums in batches; they currently have four stills in operation. Hampden rums are produced, aged, and bottled without any additives, added sugar, tannins, caramel, or glycerin. Rum Fire is a pure Jamaican single rum, with an ester content of 300 to 500 grams, and therefore belongs to the LROK category. The base is molasses, and distillation in pot stills further deepens the tropical flavors, creating an incredibly intense overproof rum.
