MANDRAKE LIQUEUR

The "Setmin" in Piedmont history are the Healers. As with the "Masche," their female equivalents, their natural talents are expanded and refined through a passage of "powers" from the elder Setmin. These powers were related to both healing and magical knowledge. The formula for Mandragola bitter, as well as its name, was passed to us by an heir of a Setmin from Valchiusella, at that time an established pharmacist, in 1978. The formula contains 15 herbs of which, according to this particular type of formulation, only eight can be publicly communicated in order to fully maintain the vital principles inherent in the product. According to this particular science, the ensemble thus obtained transcends the principles of the herbs themselves to achieve a metamorphosis that can make the product fully effective.
