It was 1872 when Louis Napoleon Mattei, a sea captain of ancient merchant seafaring tradition and wine merchant in Bastia, inspired by the scents of his homeland, Corsica, decided to create a flavored wine, ideal for a sunset aperitif on the island of beauty. It was an immediate international success and was exported all over the world. As was then unfortunately the fate of many products, it experienced a period of oblivion, until the Venturini family, proud Corsican vignerons, decided to start making it again, using the original methods and the best local ingredients, such as vermentinu and muscat must, in which Corsican botanicals such as quinquina, ancestral cedar and exotic spices are macerated.
Cap Corse Mattei Blanc is a pleasant aperitif that contrasts the pronounced sweetness with the bitter edge of quinine. Seemingly simple to drink, it hides instead a complex character capable of surprising the most experienced palates.
