Founded by royal decree on September 10, 1756, Real Companhia Velha is Portugal's oldest and most emblematic winery with its 260-year history serving the Douro. Quinta das Carvalhas, which belongs to the Companhia, is the most spectacular property in the Douro Valley enjoying a magnificent prominent position on the left bank of the river, in Pinhao. Its oldest vineyards, nearly 100 years old, are an incredible treasure representing some of the oldest native grape varieties found in the Douro Valley.
Reserve Ruby is made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Carvalha grapes. It is aged for a period of 4 years in oak barrels and vats.
