The recipe for Vermouth Excelsior Bordiga has remained unchanged over time, the same as it was at the end of the 19th century, following a skilful blend of wine, sugar, alcohol, and infusions of herbs and aromatic alpine plants from the surroundings of the distillery. Bordiga created his first Vermouth in the year the company was founded, 1888. Even today, the words “Vermouth Bordiga” can be seen on the wall of the distillery's historic headquarters. The Vermouth Bordiga label features an image of the historic recipe linked to the distant colonies of East Africa, where the rare spices came from. These spices, wisely blended with excellent Piedmont wine and superb alpine medicinal herbs, give life to the traditional Vermouth of Turin.
Recommended cocktail: Manhattan. Ingredients: 5 cl Bourbon Whiskey (or rye whiskey or Canadian Whiskey), 2 cl Excelsior Vermouth di Torino Superiore, Angostura (or Elisir Gentiana Bordiga), Maraschino, Ice. Glass: lowball tumbler or similar. Garnish: lemon peel.
