Feudo Montoni
Cammarata (AG)
Feudo Montoni, founded in 1469, is one of Sicily's oldest wineries. Already in 1595 it was praised in the first Italian oenological treatise 'De Naturali Vinorum Historia' written by Andrea Bacci, Pope Sixtus V's agronomist and physician: 'in these lands I found old plants, with a trunk the size of a man, that produced a very powerful wine with a pleasant smell and taste and capable of long preservation'. The estate at the end of the 1800s was bought by the Sireci family and is now in its third generation with Fabio continuing to preserve its values and tradition. The 80 hectares of the property in the centre of Sicily all extend eastwards from an altitude of 500 m above sea level to 800 m above sea level. Such a peculiar geographical exposure makes the Montoni lands uncontaminated by environmental, acoustic and light pollution, thus creating ideal conditions for organic farming. In these extraordinary climatic conditions, Fabio produces fine and elegant wines that are worthy of Sicilian winegrowing.
