La Rasina was established in the 1970s, founded by Santi Mantengoli, the son of independent farmers since 1930, but it was only at the end of the 1980s, with the work of his son Vasco, that it was directed towards wine production. In 1997, Marco Mantengoli, a young oenologist, took over management, combining new ideas and modern technology with his father's decades of experience. The estate covers 49 hectares, 14 of which are vineyards and 5 olive groves, the remainder being arable land. The farm is located on the north-eastern side of Montalcino and its vineyards have an average age of between 10 and 40 years, all trained to the low spurred cordon system. From this land and these vineyards, Marco produces three different versions of Brunello, a slightly more 'classic' one, a reserve dedicated to his father Vasco and a selection, in memory of his grandfather, which will be released on the market for the first time in 2020 and which well represents the Montalcino winemaker. A true farm, certified organic since 2017, managed with passion and expertise.
