Masseria Li Veli
Cellino San Marco (BR)
Masseria Li Veli was established as a winery in the early 20th century, on the ruins of a late medieval building of which only a few traces remain today, incorporated into the current structure. In 1999, the Falvo family, with over 40 years of experience in the wine business, first as founder of Avignonesi in Montepulciano and then, still in the Siena area, of Classica, the first national distributor of modern 'fine wines', bought and refounded Masseria Li Veli. The idea was born to give life to a project of great quality in Apulia, a region with ancient winemaking traditions unfortunately known only for the production of large quantities of grapes per hectare and not for the excellence of its wines. The masseria stands on an ancient Messapian site overlooking the fertile and sunny Salento plain. Its ancient founder, Marquis Antonio de Viti de Marco (1858-1943), an internationally renowned economist from Lecce, turned Li Veli into a winery that was taken as a model throughout the south of Italy. Today, the perfectly restored masseria is the home of Edoardo and Alfredo Falvo who, in addition to meticulous care in the vineyard, produce wines that are in perfect symbiosis with their land, but above all, they are true ambassadors of Apulia.
