The Veglio family has always been dedicated to working the land, starting in the early 1900s when they lived in the Ciotto hamlet in la Morra. It was Angelo Veglio, born in 1928, far-sighted in his vision of nebbiolo - of which he understood the potential - who bought the first vineyard in the 1960s in the hamlet of Gattera. In 1979, still in the hamlet of Annunziata, the family took over part of Cascina Nuova together with 5 hectares including the 'Cru' Arborina and Rocche dell'Annunziata: from that moment on, the Veglio family's history as wine growers began. In 1986, Angelo's son Mauro, in his early twenties, took over the reins of the winery and together with his wife Daniela made it grow by acquiring the vineyards in Monforte d'Alba from their father-in-law in 1996 and continuing to renovate the vineyards. An active protagonist of the "Barolo boys" movement -which changed the way of looking at Barolo between the 1980s and 1990s- Mauro decided to focus on young people, merging his company in 2017 with that of his nephew Alessandro, born in 1982. It is the only case in Langa where what had been divided over time between the founder's grandsons and sons is reunited! Simple and natural viticulture, respectful of the environment, fertilisation with natural manure, grassing of the vineyard for fine and elegant wines, perfect ambassadors of their territory, made by two men who always know how to question themselves to improve the 'fruits' of their land.
