Scerscé Estate
Tirano (SO)
Cristina Scarpellini, passionate about Nebbiolo and far-sighted in her business vision, created Tenuta Scerscé in 2008. After a law degree in Milan and two years in Paris for her thesis, she abandoned the idea of a career in law when her life met Valtellina. A vertical land that only repays hard work by those who have a spirit of sacrifice and work with heart and passion. Thus began a path of research based on a profound knowledge of the territory and daily attention to the vineyards, which in this Alpine area require a lot of work due to the steep slopes. In the natural amphitheatre of the Rhaetian Alps in Valtellina, the absolute protagonist is the 'Nebbiolo delle Alpi' whose biotype is called Chiavennasca. A noble, demanding vine that requires a special environmental and climatic situation to which the Rhaetian slopes are perfectly suited. Guyot-trained vines enjoy plenty of light, amounting to one thousand nine hundred hours of irradiation per year! A connection between past and present, between handed-down manual skills and contemporary methods, while respecting tradition. All this is at the basis of Scerscé, a young company that in just a few years has been able to impose itself for the quality level of its wines, but above all for its strong link with the Valtellina 'terroir'.
