Deville's "Carte Noire" is a brut champagne with a good structure, capable of expressing the character of the Pinot Noir grapes, of which it is composed for the most part. An elegant, dry, harmonious and persistent champagne with an excellent price/quality ratio.

The Brut "Carte Noire" Champagne by Jean Paul Deville is the result of the work of a family-run Maison, which produces a range of Champagnes linked to the ancient traditions of the splendid Verzy Grand Cru territory. In keeping with the customs of the area, it is a blend based on Pinot Noir, to which a small percentage of Chardonnay is added, contributing its refined elegance to refine the face of the cuvée. It is a label with a fresh and fragrant character, designed to bring out the young and pleasantly fruity aromas of top-quality grapes. An ideal bottle for those who love Champagne with a direct, clear and immediate personality.

"Carte Noire is a Brut Champagne that perfectly expresses the personality of the Verzy Grand Cru terroir, especially famous for the quality of its Pinot Noir. Situated on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, thanks to its cool climate and highly suitable soils, the Maison Jean Paul Deville produces Champagne with an artisanal look, based on an ancient know-how that can draw on the experience of five generations of vignerons. At the end of the harvest, the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed and vinified in white separately. After a few months, the vins clairs are blended to create the definitive cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, according to the Champenoise method, with a 24-month maturation on the lees before dégorgement.

Champagne Brut Carte Noire, created by Jean Paul Deville, has the charm that only Champagne from small houses can preserve over time. The fruit of vines cultivated in a precise area of Champagne, it manages to express its character authentically, highlighting its best qualities. In the glass, it has a beautiful bright straw yellow colour, with a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is fragrant and fruity, with scents of citrus fruits, lime zest, delicate aromas of redcurrants, sensations of bread crust, hints of dried fruit and light toasted nuances. The entry on the palate is lively and clear, dry and pleasantly fruity, with a harmonious finish, tasty and lively fresh citrus. A perfect Champagne to enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood hors d'oeuvres.

Colour Bright and clear yellow, with a consistent and fine perlage.

Bouquet Fresh and mineral scents, accentuated by elegant hints of red berries and a delicate toasted nuance

Taste Fine and dry, elegant and refined, with an evident savoury touch, but always well balanced

The Maison Jean Paul Deville is a family-run business that produces high-quality artisanal Champagne. Created in 1968, it is the fruit of the experience of several generations of vignerons who have cultivated these lands with love and passion. During the 19th century, the Deville family, who had already owned vineyards in Verzy for five generations, limited themselves to cultivating the countryside and selling the grapes to the great Maisons of Reims. In 1966, Jean-Paul Deville decided to create a blend with wines from his own grapes for a small family production. Two years later he bought a wine press for his cellar, so that he could press and make wine himself, and also in 1968 the first bottles bearing the Maison Jean Paul Deville label saw the light of day.

This was just the beginning of a great adventure in the world of Champagne. In 1986, a Rosé version was born, and ten years later a Blanc de Blancs of great character and structure, son of a terroir traditionally dedicated to Pinot Noir. His daughter, Marie-Alice, joined the team a few years ago. After obtaining her national diploma in oenology in Reims, she works alongside her father in the creation of the cuvées. The Cuvée Quinte Essences was born from her talent and creativity, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Maison. A Champagne inspired by the oldest traditions of the region, with an unusual blend, which alongside Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay also includes the old Champagne varieties such as Petit-Meuslier and Arbanne.

The domaine Jean Paul Deville is located in the commune of Virzy, one of the 17 villages in the region classified as Grand Cru, due to the exceptional quality of its vineyards, which every year yield grapes of absolute excellence. It is about twenty kilometres south of the city of Reims, in an area of Champagne famous for producing excellent Pinot Noir. The vineyards are still managed according to ancient farming practices, with manual work and maniacal care.  The management is based on low yields, so as to always favour quality, and the harvest is carried out with a rigorous and careful selection of only the best bunches. All the cuvées are made with only the free-run must from very soft pressing. The long ageing on the lees gives intense, rich and elegant Champagnes, a typical expression of the Grand Cru of Verzy.
